Well then, it passed, finally, after tweeking the carbs till I thought it would never start again (emissions, 76-77 car) and testing the hand brake over
and over. But guess what, I got an advisory about O/S/F and N/S/F lower suspension arm having slight play in a pin/bush [2.4.G.3](Huh?!!) Are my trunnions
about to drop off or are they just being silly? They were new 12 months ago (car was rebuilt!!) and I've done very little mileage and oiled them regularly,
honest Guv. Is this a normal advice note for our cars and a weak point well known? Or do I have cackilly cast trunnions? The MOT has got a lot stricter
since I last owned a GT6!

adrian you'll probably find that the bolt holes in the wishbone which take the load of the bolt to the trunnion have worn oval.if they are not to bad
you can reclaim them by welding a thick h/tensile washer on the outside on both sides and using a slightly longer bolt.but if the holes are excessively
worn the bush through the trunnion will not be gripped properly and replacement wishbones are in order.or as you say you could have"cackily cast
trunnions"!

Interesting - mine also failed on its lower suspension joint (i.e.trunnion) this year (replaced 3 years ago!), then when I took it back with a new
one fitted it passed with an advisory on the top ball joint! I was told that because the new trunnion tightened up the bottom, it highlighted
slight play in the top - so have now purchased new vertical link and ball joint!
