  I always transport my guitar in the passenger seat... and my Vox amp fits behind the seats on the parcel shelf.
  
  I know that a Fender Tele in a hard case fits perfectly in a Spitfire boot - but no idea about a GT6...

    Don't forget the Vitesse! Same engine, same suspension (except for the late Mk3, but that was a cost cutting exercise, not for performance), same weight (Mk3 again) as the GT6. Two more seats, with enough room for four sets of golf clubs. enough for guitars for an orchestra and much easier to get in and out of with a bad back than a GT6.

        If you get a Vitesse everyone will think you're an old granny, or an old Silverback like Messrs Davies (and presumably Lee) rather than the virile sporting man that a GT6 owner clearly is (for example Mr Don Cook who only looks 50+ due to his playboy lifestyle). Equally, people might mistake you for an over-tall bespectacled web-freak of the type that may well delete this message. (hmmm anyone else to offend ...?)
        
        A GT6 could turn you into a racing maniac like NiG, too - which would mean you'd be in almost every copy of Retro magazine! (talking of which what wonderful TSSC and associated coverage this month ... including JCs photography!)
        
        As for Golf Clubs ... apart from detracting from the appropriate GTsex look I'm sure you could actually fit them in. Buy a cargo net from Halfords and this will clip onto the parcel shelf and fit over the clubs ok. I've certainly fit a tent the length of caddies and a couple of 80 litre rucksacks in the back before, but if you had a passenger seat with no headrest tilted right back might be another way of fitting them in.
        
        Guitars would be no problem ... depending on the number
        
        I also fitted two 7 x 2 pieces of MDF in my GT ... ooh, I can feel a competition beginning here!

              Sorry, forgot to add, we just tried and got a set of clubs in GT6 in a Non-rigid golf bag, so should be ok.

                Thanks everyone. I hadn't expected quite a long thread!
                
                Now all I need is a GT6. Other than the ads on this site, is anyone selling one, preferably in the South? I'm looking for A1, Mk3, no sunroof, standard but 2.5L or similar conversion would be OK. From experience of the last one, a good bare metal re-spray is a very big plus point. Not too fussed on the colour - last one was red, don't particularly like white or black. Willing to spend up to &163;5.5k for the right one.

                    Sorry I'm late on this thread but I've been away sha**ing all the women that have swooned at me and my big red one (signal red actually). I agree with all Reeksy has said..but then he does have a big green one.
                    
                    Coming back from Le Mans, Alps, Germany etc (note that its not called Le Girls!) my GT6 was crammed with camping stuff, beer, spares, pillows, wine, beer and big boxes of condoms, beer...and I could still see out of the rear window!
                    
                    In my other life as a s**t hot fencer I can get two fencing kit bags in the back...and that's a lot of stuff (I've heard every joke about fencing, so no Reeksy!). You could always do a Doug Foreman and use a God awful roof rack!
                    
                    Remember this: for the wife or girlfriend the GT6 is a practical hatchback just right for shopping trips; for the Hubby or boyfriend the GT6 gets you a sex life! I can't think of a more practical family car.
                    
                    As for the 4" mattress and its practicality, well you'll have to ask others about that!

                      We were carrying all of Colins condoms .tha's why we had to use the roof rack.Not that there were lots of them it was just the size .And any way the sight of a GT6 with two great big blokes inside and a load of camping stuff on the roof created a lot of amusement

                              Well, you can't drive under car park barriers, weave through traffic cones as easily, fit 3 abreast on a two lane road, fit into tiny garages/sheds ... or remove a tunnel cover in a saloon. Or were you thinking of something else?

          1/ Vitesse= Granny? Don't think so, ok, I may use heavy duty moisturiser but not quite at the raisin-face stage yet!
          2/ GT6 = virile sporting man?. I am not aware of extra facial hair and/or other testosterone-related signs since I bought mine.
          3/ GT6+ golf clubs doesn't make for the "sex" look? Must ask hunky, six foot plus husband what you may mean by that...him routinely travelling about with golf clubs and all...sure you and he could discuss it

            I used to think GT6's were mean. That was before I knew they attracted 44'' drivers with wooly head covers.

            It wasn't meant as an entirely serious suggestion of course, Jackie, and as for Golf, perhaps it's a nice sedate 'sport' i'll take up when my 15 stone frame is too old for Rugby, rallying, swimming, hiking, and running!
            
            Keith - now i know this isn't the best person to quote, but it was Jeremy Clarkson who said that Sptifires were girls cars and GT6s were a real sports car Not that I agree with that.
            
            Craig - trust you to come up with a suitable techno-solution to my need to offend people!

              Hair? Hair is for girls - if you're bald, well done, if you're not just get your clippers out and get a No 1 - job done and you save a bundle on shampoo, conditioner, jojobba, active lipasomes and madeupiam - or whatever it is they put in all those gay "styling" products the yoof's use - the only gel you need is swarfega
              With no hair you can also wear a variety of bobbly or non-bobble hats without the worry of hat hair. My only problem is my chef's hat get's blown off in the convertible (prizes are available for the best jokes involving the words blow and off with reference to my cooking) - maybe a Chinn strap is needed
              
              To get back to the point, if anyone remembers or cares now - isn't the whole point of a Grand Tourer that you should be able to get some luggage in it? Or is that just wishful thinking?

  Think golf clubs a no-no. (Husband is a golf-pro and this was one of his arguments re: not getting a Triumph as his daily runner). Personally, I think you can get them in the car interior without the bag....ok if you are only using same golf-club and have a locker.
  You could get bag etc in the interior of the Vitesse but not sure of the boot? For those of you who want to try and measure this possibility, a driver is 44 inches long/ 45 with a furry head cover!
  You can't leave clubs in view in a car as this can invalidate your insurance.

  I used to play Golf regularly and often travelled with two full sets of clubs with reasonably big bags and two trolleys in the rear of my GT6, had to fold down the rear seat to get them in but thats not really surprising.
  
  I used to get two sets of clubs in the boot of a Spitfire 1500 before when I owned that before the GT6 but there wasn't room for trolley's as well unless you put them in the car behind the seats.
  
  MyGT6 is definitely more Golfer freindly than my modern car, no chance at all of getting a set of clubs in the boot of my BMW MINI, and with kiddie seats fitted in the back no chance of folding down the seats
  
  If I take up golf again I'll have to use the GT6 .

    I have just checked. my guitar fits but my bass does'nt unless you rest the neck on the passengers sholder.
    You can however play bass while sitting in the drivers seat as long as you lean the seat, back and open the passenger window.
    I have enjoyed finding this out so much that I am now going to see how much of the wifes drum kit i can get in and still be able to play it and/or drive the car.
    I think we just invented a new party game!
