V5 Historic Status , Free Road Fund Tax

I had to do this recently, my car had been off the road for twenty years and the form showed it as tax class PLG.
You need to get this changed to Historic, you can do this by taking the form together with MoT and insurance to your local DVLA office. They will issue you a free historic tax disc immediately, give you a temporary document for the car and retain your old document for updating. A new document will be posted to you in due course.
Be prepared for a log wait at your DVLA office, the queue at Stanmore was two hours! Many thanks to my brother for attending on my behalf!

When I did this for my first spitfire, I did it all by post. I didn't have to sit in anyones office for two hours and just 'got on with my life' instead...
Of course, it did take a week (or so) for the documents to come through, but then if you're re-building anyway you can factor the time to coincide with your roadgoing debut

Moral of the story..... Live in 'The Sticks', not the 'Big Smoke', have changed about half a dozen cars now, never waited more than 10 minutes in Ipswich, usually is a straight in and out. Just don't go on the first or last few days of a month.

I too am full of praise for the Ipswich people - I've never had to wait and they are pleasant and helpful with it. Mind you, the place is so difficult to find perhaps most people give up trying....-

I started using them when I got a job in the Willis building, so they were next door.
Now-a-days I seem to spend all my time looking for a parking space when going there.....
