  I like the dusty windscreen, and the kettle in the corner ... oh, and there's a shiny looking engine in the middle there, however did that get in the shot!

      It's a straight-6 cunninly disguised as a V8...
      
      I don't know how much you read the other threads, but you may have gathered that I'm planning on sticking one of these in my Spitty 1500 over the summer.
      
      If you've got any tips/advice...

        1. Don't: do it!
        
        2. Do: Remove your brain so as not to assess the situation first.
        
        3. Do: Use Rover Sd1 engine and box.
        
        4. See number 2
        
        5. Do: Convince your wife that "if I don't buy this part I'll die"
        
        6. Do: Smile when your classic insurance will go up to a whopping &163;77 for a whole year cos of the mod.

        6. &163;77 a year? That's less than I was paying with the standard Spitty 1500 engine. Where do you get your insurance?

        be sure to say classic cos they have a separate section.
        
        I pay &163;67 now, for 2000mile limit, they quote another 10% with a bigger/ modern engine

        Can you get a filter on that carb under the bonnet?
        
        If not like me how do you expect to stop birds and small shrubs getting sucked in
        
        500cfm????? Christ how big a carb do you want?
        
        At least your bonnet is the same colour as the rest of your car, mine is still yellow (car red).
        
        In all the time I have had mine on the road I have only had the stunned silence of passengers as an indication of performance. However I just found a cracking 1700 crossflow Westfield for my brother in law so at last something to compare against. Croft here we come!!

        Aww, only 2000 miles a year, what a shame. I get unlimited miles for &163;135 (including damage waiver 'cos I live in one of 'those' postcodes)
        
        Brum, Brum, Brum. My race car was the same price with every modification stated &163;135 but for 1500 miles only...

        Peter Best are ... inexpensive, certainly, but they don't let you add to your fleet - you need to have a separate policy per car.
        
        Martin, SD1 engine and box you say, what about the diff.?

        I don't know what Martin's done, but my current plan is to swap my Spitty 1500 dff for a GT6 one (if anyone has any better ideas, feel free to suggest them...)
        
        Heehee - picking the engine up tomorrow - I'm getting excited already... Shame I won't have time to work on it until the summer.
        
        I might have to investigate Peter Best - I got a quote from Footman James a few weeks ago (for the 1500 engine, not the V8), and it was the best part of &163;2000

      I happen to have an Edelbrock Racing t-shirt - as given to me by Cami and Christi Edelbrock at Watkins Glen... they had a fine pair of... race cars... went pretty quick too... for girls... (expects battering)
