Hi folks,
have just re-installed the dash on my MkIII and now have a problem. Temp and fuel gauges, when ignition is on, they seem to work fine (cold engine, temp
needle not moving/small amount of fuel, fuel gauge just moves) As soon as I start the engine, the temp gauge goes into the red and the fuel gauge goes
backwards !!
I wrote down and drew all the connections and re-assembled as per instructions. What have I done wrong? I also have one of those voltage stabilisers from
ebay (transistorised?) this was working fine before I took the dash out.
This is making me so angry as I am usually quite good at fault finding but I am stumped this time
Any suggestions?
P.S. I have used the same earthing point and it shares with the dash lights, which work fine, perhaps I should check it again.....It's always the earth,
isn't it !!
Cheers, Steve.

You've put the water and the petrol in back to front... or the electrical connectors are on the wrong terminals. Did you follow the manual with the
gauges facing towards you, or away from you?

Hello Colin, thanks for the reply and possible solutions. I have to admit, it was my stupid mistake, I wrote the wiring down wrong !! I found I had
wired the temp gauge up to the HRW. Must in future use "less haste and more speed"
I will find you at Stafford and you can tell me whether I look as stoopid as I am.
Just need to bleed the brakes now and its off for the MOT......
Cheers, Steve.
