Does anyone out there know how the rubber channel that sits in the vertical metal slider channel at th rear of the door glass is fitted. My window was a
bit loose in the door that was recently fitted to my GT6 and I found the rubber channel was missing. I was going to order a new one but found the old
rubber channel sitting in the bottom of my old door.
What I can't tell is how it is fixed in position, I'm presuming it's glued witha contact adhesive (eg Evostick) but does anyone know this for sure?

Not sure about the GT6, but the Herald one also has one or two pop rivets in the bottom of the "U" to keep in place. Provided you fit the preformed
rivet head into the channel so there is the least intrusion into the "glass space" it should do the trick. Even if this is not how the GT6 was
originally fitted, it should stop the channel sliding down, and the window should do the rest to keep it in place. Just be careful if you fit the rivet
into the quarterlight space in case it interferes with the quarterlight seal.
If your pop rivet gun doesn't want to fit into the channel flush up on the rivet head, use a small sleeve of brake pipe as a spacer. Works a treat!

Thanks Chris,
There are no holes in either the rubber or steel channel in a GT6/Spitfire so doesn't seem that these were rivetted. I'll probably have a go at
gluing it first but if it doesn't stay in place the pop rivet arrangement might be a solution.

Same problem with my GT6 window "rubber".
Found mine in the bottom of the door too, showing 30+ yrs of wear.
I did manage to find a new channel complete with rubber at Stafford last year, but the bloke said the rubber bit was not available on its
own.
Didn't notice any obvious fittings on the new stuff. I suspect some adhesive may be used, but when the rubber is new it is a much tighter fit
so less of a problem.
It is possible to feed the rubber back into the channel without taking the glass out - I found I could get it 1/2 way down easily then it was a
case of winding the window up and down with the rubber moving a few mm each time. I guess the rubber will eventually work its way right through
again but will take many months or even years of regular window winding use so I can live with it.

Just foundout thart the steelj chan;nels on; a GT6 are much narrower tharn the Spitfire ones and the rubber channel is a pretty tight fit
so stays put on it's own. I was confused as I had a Spitfire steel chann;el in my garage and the GT6 rubber was much narrower. Rubber
channel back in place now and I have a less rattly Drivers window again.
