Hi On lifting the bonnet of my Mark 3, I notice that the driver's side of the bonnet was lower than the passenger side and on lifting the drivers side up
the chassis section was seen to move up and down - there is no crack to the top of the chassis arm but there is a crack on the lower side. Can this be
welded with the bonnet in situe or should it be be removed. Does anyone know any problems with this job. Ralph

Ralph, are you talking about the chassis main rail that runs the length of the car or the front crossmember that runs the width? I would say that if
you position the bonnet to where it needs to be, this may be weldable with the bonnet in situ, however, it is very difficult to say without seeing it.
Post some photos and I'll give you the benefit of my opinion (for what it's worth)!

Mark the area that has a split is connected to the front cross member and is the short arm immediately behind the plastic underrider on the Mark 3
- I have noticed that the front cross member is has slightly weak and corroded ends to it but these only support the bumper. The reason for a quick
weld is that I have an MOT next week and it may fail on bonnet strength.
