Help!!
I have installed a 2.5 ltr engine into my GT6, but I am unsure what the correct ignition timing should be. The engine prefix number is MM, it has a cam
shaft from a 2.5PI (308778), carbs are 175 Strombergs, distributor is the original GT6 Delco with Aldon electronic ignition.
Any help much appreciated.

Derek, there is one ignition timing you should make suere you get right
you must make sure you have no more than 36 crankshaft degrees BTDC maximum ignition advance otherwise you risk holing pistons
that advance will come from the centifugal advance in the distributor plus vacuum advance if you have a distributor so equipped.
at idle type engine speeds you might find you have too much ign advance and the engine races even with the carbs fully shut
in which case you might need to measure what ignition advance you need for a controllable idle (perhaps 8 or 10 degs btdc or even less and then see how
much total advance you get at high revolutions, if that is less than say 32 degs crank btdc you might need to take a dremmel grinder to the centrifugal
advance stops to get more centrifugal advance
does this help?

Jonathan
Thanks for the info, I will set idle at 8 degree BTDC.

and then check how much total advance you have at say 4000 rpm!
