Hi guys,
I've just bought a MkI for restoration, my first project and there's a lot to do.
Somewhere in the cars past, someone has replaced the engine with a Vitesse engine, prefix HC. I'm not sure whether he's swapped the gearbox for an
overdrive unit as well. I've got 2 steering column stalks on the right of the column, is the second one of these the overdrive? I've not been able to
locate it easily in the manuals I've got. (Fairly sure it'll tell me, I'm just looking in the wrong place.)
Can someone tell me whether this is the overdrive? It's not going to be used for a very long time whatever it is, I reckon 4 or 5 years before the car is
roadworthy again, but that's just a not so educated guess.
Cheers.

The overdrive switch is the rear of the two on the righthand side,

Thanks Bill. I thought that was the case, but couldn't find confirmation.
Cheers.

If you have two overdrive stalks to the right-hand side, one of these has to be the overdrive. The other (the indicator) will move in three locations -
left, off and right - while the other will either be on, or off - the overdrive! Look at the mounting shroud - if the second stalk is attached to the
rear as an extension, it's overdrive.
