I'm taking delivery of a set of Revolution 6x14 4 spokes this afternoon for my mk3 GT6 and am looking at tyre options. Reading through previous entries
this is open to serious debate, I'm considering 195/55/14's all round and but a friend has thrown another spanner in the works. He's a VW nut and runs
wider tyres on the rear than the front (for aesthetics mainly). He suggested 205's for the back anf 195's for the front? Anyone gone as wide as this and
any idea how this would affect the handling?
Thanks
Paul.

I had 205s (Capri tyres) at the back and 175s at the front on my GT ... not my choice I hasten to add!
These were on 13 inch wheels, but they were absolutely awful. Of course I didn't know that as I hadn't driven it without. Had some seriously worrying
twitches from the back end a couple of times, including almost running sideways into traffic coming the other way having pulled out of a junction on a
slightly damp surface - i hadn't even given it much.
Needless to say i'd never been so glad to get a flat as when one of those tyres went down.
It handles like a different car with 175 70s on.

Cheers, sounds hairy. Went for 185/55/14's all round. Bit harsh at the moment though so will try backing the Gaz adjustables off a little. Almost
ready for the Le Mans Classic!

twill understeer even more. or so my experienced racing friend says. sounds about right to with too much load being put through the smaller
tyre.
