Hello, resto held up by wheels and seats... does anyone have any Weller 6J's they'd like to part with. Or anyone know of other makes which will fit e.g
Montego alloys etc.. (like something meaty but period looking really.)
In other words I can't afford Wolfrace slots!
Thanks
Martin

MG Montego wheels will fit the Triumph PCD; if you can live with the wheel pattern they can be unusual!

Montegos use the same 3&3/4 in PCD but how do we match up the very large taper holes with the triumph hubs and are there any clearance problems
we need to watch out for Colin ?
HI Colin. How is the six?

Surely using wheels that were fitted to a Montego/Maestro will have the wrong Offest/Inset. I have always been under the impression that Front Wheel
drive cars have wheels fitted that have more inset than offset, wheras rear wheel drive are vice-versa, Compare the wheels fitted to a Triumph 1300
(FWD) to those fitted to a Toledo (RWD). I suspect that these wheels will foul against the rear shocker arches fitted within a GT6 wheel arch, thus
necessitating TSSC conversion brackets to be fitted.

Well spotted Tim
I was wondering when someone would pick up on this.
You are correct about FWD cars using in set wheels. The reason for this is to try to set the centre of the tyre between the steering pivot point
and the drive coupleing the purpose being, an atempt to reduce torque steer.
HOWEVER!! To quote Triumphs own competition preparation manual by Kas Kastner.
"The front wheels are K13x60-4A/G with 1" negative offset which keeps the track stock and corrects an inherant tendancy to oversteer. In addition,
it also moves the hub loading clocer to the spindle line."
Montego 6x15" wheels are 28mm neg offset and that is close enough to 1" for me.
On the rear I use 1/2" spacers to clear the shock.
