Balancing Act

Hello everybody, just had the car in for MOT and had to back off the mixture on both carbs quite a bit to get her through. Does anybody know the best way to balance the carbs mixture strength? thought I was OK but no, I wasn't. Got a colourtune kit but its evidently rubbish. How do you do it? Carbs are CD175s if that makes any difference. I'd rather have a go before I have to go to a rolling road, know any good ones in the midlands by the way?

2 carbs/ inlet manifolds you need 2 colurtune to get the burn balance right , but balance the airflow between carbs first b 4 any mixture adjustment

  even before thinking of colour tuning your best to set the tappets the points and dwell angle check your timing and then set about the carbs all this will help get the right result even if its a bit time consuming all the best

  Have used Aldon myself but have found somebody even better . Try Mick at HI-TEC motorsport excellent bloke no b*llshit just straight talking (friendly though) excellent prices my own cars one went to Aldon for a basic setup cost me Â£300.00 took my race car to HI-TEC had the cam timing checked and adjusted to suit (remove rad timing cover etc) the carbs set up and balanced and a power run Â£200.00.I know of at least 5 TR register TSSC racers thet use him and all speak very highly of his services.

    Blimey - Â£200, Â£300 - I took my Vitesse to Slark Engineering down in Amesbury, Wiltshire http://www.slarkraceengineering.co.uk/contactus.ht... and had a couple of hours on the rollers for Â£80! OK so the car was on carbs and points at the time. All we really did was a power run, a check and adjust of timing and carburation and another power run but it was thorough and improved the car as a result.
    Now on electronic ignition and Lucas PI it's another thing entirely!

      Thats superb value i know when i was ringing around most companies charge about Â£50 p/h for the use of the rolling road and operator and also will charge for blocks of time eg half a day or a full day as a minimum in fairness the race car had done less than 50 miles on its new engine so he sat the apprentice in the car and just had him drive for an hour or so before commencing with the power runs and tune
