I have just fitted a set of triple 150CD Stombergs to a 2.5L engin on my GT6 MkIII. Having overcome the initial problem with the floats flooding, the
engine now runs superbly. The problem that I now have is that I cannot shut the bonnet due to interference with the front carburettor. I have seen this
installation previously on a friend's car many many years ago, so I believe that it should work. The only thing I can possible think of is shorter (lower
profile) carburettor tops. Can anyone help me, as I am not prepared to cut a hole in the bonnet and am reluctant to refit the original carbs. Many thanks

You mean a bit like these SUs with a cut down top: (apologies to the owner)

charles, the different topped SUs have different dashpot pistons whch allow for the sane airslide lift
the front carb may look odd but it';s opening would match the other two

If SU's will fit, then there should be no problem with the smaller profile Strombergs. Being a 2.5 l engine, has it been mounted too high
because of sump clearance issues over the steering rack? I seem to recall you need to fit a Vitesse sump which has had suitable hammerwork to
cater for the front crank web throw.

you realy nedd to fit a gt6 sump to the 2.5 engine to allow the engine to fit lower over the steering rack but then you will need to
planish some dips into the sump on the front shallow part either side of the upward grove which covers over the rack to allow the crank
throw full movement without hitting the sump pan i hope this may be iof help regards mark
