Have you changed the setup in any way, like a new six branch exhaust?
If so stronger needles and springs could be the answer.
My experience of Andrew Turner was nothing short of excellent, a very friendly and knowledgeable man, although that was with SU's.

Andrew is very good, knows his stuff.
We had problem similar on the 2000, the carb pistons are sticking.
Not moving freely up and down on acceleration. Castings seem to have warped out of 90 deg alignment.

It doesn't sound to me that the carbs are your problem on this one... although they could well do with a referb anyway.
The spluttery thing sounds like a misfire and could be coil (as has been suggested) or dizzy related (base plate out of true) either of these will show up as perfectly fine under normal loads but give just the problem you descibe at high(er) revs. Question - will the engine rev past 4000 when in neutral? If it does then I suggest one of these may be the problem.
A sticking pot would normally show problems at low revs (as they don't drop and so you're flooding) or poor accelleration as they won't lift. Air leaks in the carbs will show up more under tickover as the engine will 'hunt'.
HT lead/coil failure can manifest as 'lumpy' acceleration at higher revs and will gradually come in earlier and earlier in the rev range as it progresses/worsens. Checking the plugs may help diagnose this.
Check in the dizzy cap for arcing ... if there is evidence then is it in the centre of the contact point? if not then the dizzy plate may have moved?? (rare)
Lots of stuff to check I'm afriad but as with all these things start with the simple and easy to check and progress to the more expensive stuff as it will save you money in the end.

I have a new 6v coil and ballast resistor fitted also the leads, plugs and dizzy cap are new, I will call Andrew to see if he can help with the carbs.-

Sounds like a wonky rotor arm to me, take it off and see if there is any play in the metal contact.

West Sussex Restorations are based in Cowfold on the A272. The owners are members of TSSC. In fact the chap who does the main mechanical work, Adam
Chignell, his wife is AO for Surrey.
I cannot recommend him highly enough. He knows Triumphs inside out. He prepared my car for the CT Round Britain Reliability Run and the car didn't miss a beat in 2000 miles.
He has just tuned my carbs and the car is sweet once again.
He advertises in the Courier. His advert is the "Mobile Triumph Repairs" one as he also does this. Call him on 07768 793946.
I had a misfire once, whenever my car got to 3500 revs. It turned out simply to be a dodgy HT lead!! Worth checking anyway.

You may have already checked this but it was the last thing I suspected when it happened to me. Same thing with GT6 engine, turned out to be nothing more than choked fuel filter. OK at low revs, about 4000rpm she spluttered and couldn't suck enough juice through. Found this out only after buying new coil, plugs, points etc etc.
