Emission Control Stuff

Symptoms: hesitant at 4000 rpm upwards and running a bit weak.

Answer: the hose from the manifold to emission control thingy was split and letting in air. Replaced it and now its all fine. Check yours if similar symptoms.

I'd like to show off a bit and say that I first noticed this hurtling (if you can hurtle on parade laps) down the straight in front of the grandstand at Donnington Park.

why don't you just ditch the emission control system?

  You'll get more power Don.... all that dodgy gas coming from the engine is mixed up with the fuel/air mix... and why would you want to do that?

    Ditch it - I've just repaired it! Besides I don't want to pollute the world and end up with super summers for the next 1000 years, just for the sake of more power...that's it I'm burning old tyres in the garden!
    
    Do you just blank off the manifold and the rockerbox?

      It only goes back in to the engine... doesnt get burnt up in there... so it just comes out the exhaust... no more worse than if it wasn't there...
      
      You just block them both off... though you may need some sort of vent filter for the rocker side of things? or a catch tank... (whatever its called can't remember - its late...)
