Exhaust Wrap

Does anyone out there have any experience of using exhaust wrap to lessen the heat build up under the bonnet and hence through into the cabin via the tunnel cover.
I have a couple of specific questions:-
1) I have a stainless steel system so corrosion is not a problem. What type of lagging is best to use ; rope, tape, other ? and who are the suppliers.
2) Can it be fitted with exhaust on or off the car ?
3) Does it work ?

fitting off the car tricky, fitting on the car v.v difficult.

Have you been following the tread on "to wrap or not to wrap that is the question" http://www.tssc.org.uk/messageboard2005.asp?board=... which has included some useful comments about heat etc.
