ground clearance

i have recently finnished fitting a stanless steel sports exhaust. it looks great and sounds great but the problem is that i now have only 3" ground clearance, is this normal? the fixings for the rear silencers were useless so i manufactured my own but even so i dont see how i can move the exhaust up any more without it knocking on the diff.
even if i cant improve the clearance i'm leaving it on as the ability to shatter shop windows by bliping the throttle is well worth it

  I'm not sure whether this info helps but the front of my Spit has only 3 1/2" ground clearance at best and I have dont have any trouble with scraping, even over speed bumps... Not sure whether it would be different with it being the silencer instead of the chassis as on mine, but you can use it as an excuse to keep your exhaust on so...

    I know my car has very little ground clearance, will measure i when i get chance. Least i know when i bottom the car on something its the exhaust and not anything else!

      i found with my Mk1 that the exhaust under the diff is quite low too, but was advised to put a jack under it and heat the pipe red hot. This should cause it to straighten out a bit and raise the ground clearance. Needless to say I haven't tried it as yet...
