I have read a posting from someone, somewhere recently, might have been on this messageboard, might have been on another, about their experiences getting Unipart to cough up a refund on their lifetime (that isn't anymore) battery.

Have found a couple of older postings, but I was after the latest for my proof at the local PArtco.....

Anyone else read it somewhere???

I also had problems getting my local Unipart dealer to honour the lifetime warranty on my Samson Battery about 2 years ago. Unfortuneately I had moved house so couldn't really go back to the original dealership where I bought it as it was 100 miles away! In the end the local Unipart replaced it (very begrudgingly I might add!) but he insisted on keeping the lifetime warranty card from my last battery and the new one just had a standard 2 year warranty as Unipart didn't make Samson batteries anymore. No offer to buy out the warranty like the other post on the subject but at least I got a new battery.

The Smason battery lifetime deal always seemed to good to be true. Especially seeing that I bought my Samson just after buying a new Rover in 1999, one of the perks was a discount card for the Rover parts department and they gave me a 33% discount off the list price of the Samson battery when I bought it, from memory it only cost me about Â£25 which was cheaper than any one else was charging for a decent heavy duty battery for a GT6 at the time.

  As an ex employee of Unipart, all Partco branches (who are owned by Unipart) will exchange batteries for you. They have rationalised the battery range and do not list most older cars. They should still exchange the battery. They will give you a normal 3 year warranty battery (normally red casing) but will also honour the lifetime warranty on the blue battery. If you are having any issues get the Unipart centre to call and speak to Paul Stanton @ Unipart HQ in Cowley. He is the Warranty Manager and will put the branch right and sort your issue out. Most branches do not understand this issue correcty hence the confusion. Hope this helps.
