The sills on my GT6 also slope out to the outside of the car (granted its a MK1) and my assumption is that this is to prevent water draining the wrong way and giving me a wet bum
This isn't a great slope, but enough to be noticed if you look for
it.
Although the sills form an important part of the structural ingtegrity of the car, if they are still good I would leave them alone. Especially if you are on a limited budget.
Your best bet is to get along to a meeting where you can look over other cars of the same model and compare them point for point. For instance you could get to Stoneleigh this weekend and have a good butchers at the club cars there.

The Big L.......is none other than Laurence Cochrane..........a man of immense knowledge and wisdom in all things mechanical..........though ,like myself,is not always subtle or delicate in his deliverance.Some find Laurence abusive,i find him funny ,entertaining and always willing to give advice and help,suppose it depends on your sense of humour.
There are people on here who do not like Laurence,make your own mind up if and when he returns.-
