got my first gt6 mk111,recently the guy I bought it from made one out of two, assured me everything ok just some minor work to engine to get going,
Chrisssst I have had to put the car into a garage that rebuilds triumphs poss new engine reqiured, my own fault a bit to keen to own a gt6 .
the question I would like to ask is this can anyone tell me the proper place to fit the wing mirrors, the guy at the garage said the original place was on
the doors back from the halflight but looking through our site gallery I see some cars have them on the wings also which type is best as the mechanic said
the orginals were better than the bullet type , can anyone help?.

Hi Bob (that reminds me of a Bridget Bardot joke!)
On the picture of my GT6 below (via Mik from Yorkshire) you will see that I have the late type door mirrors. trouble is that they are mounted too far
forward on the door to be of any real use (the quarterlight gets in the way); the passenger side is completely useless. So if you go for these then
make sure they're fitted well back for an unabstructed view.
I think the bullet type are naff!

thanks don , thats exactly what the mechanic says would happen, he said just short of the middle of the door is the best place.

Bob,
I have been having fun with this on my Mk II GT6.
Forget bullet mirrors on the door, you can see rock all. I think they are designed to go on the wings and suspect that vibration might well be
a problem if you put them there.
I have just fitted a pair of TSSC mirrors and they work fine. They are easy to fit from the outside and have screws that enable you to tighten
to taste. Not too much or the door gets bent if they are knocked.
I fitted mine with their front edge 35CM back from the front of the door which is just behind the quarter light but get a mate to hold them in
the proposed position and check that you can see through them.

Remember - the further away you are from the mirror, the less you'll see.... door mirrors are okay if fitted corrctly but having had bullet
mirrors which I didn't like, and Spitfire type door mirrors which bent back at speed, I went for the clip-on quarterlight type which are
right beside your face and give excellent rearward visibility... the only problem was that they kept falling off when I slammed the door so
both my Mk3 and my Mk1 have the same little scrape in the paint on the top of the door. Any good tips for getting them to stay put?

Cor, is that mine? Course it is - still makes my trousers go tight! Thanks Mik, I tried to post this picture but it wouldn't be accepted.
Bob, here you can see where not to put the mirrors.
I've just read Jason Chinn's article on the Ten Countires Run, brings it all back. Have a look on Canley's web site.

The article is here if anyone's interested -
http://www.canleyclassics.com/10cr.asp?topic=revie... and constructive critics
are welcome to express an opinion

There's talk of a Ten Countries Run book being put together,
could be interesting. We're working on putting some photos into the article and we'll let you know when that's done.
Still, not long 'till the Round Britain - you gonna just turn up again Don???

"Admittedly my eyes are have the age of yours, however!" (sic but could be hic).
I might be up your neck of the woods in a couple of weeks - perhaps we could meet up and have a swift HAVE? You can get the first round
in this time!

No probs Don. Please be careful when you're in my neck of the woods, though. Over christmas there have been several sightings of
bears holding impromptu parties in said woods, purely with the intention of luring southern Goldilockses into their circle before
eating them.
A swift 'have' has been ordered.
(obviously your eyes aren't as bad as I thought!)

Have a look at the 'Gallery' just over on the right. Michael Charlton's Magenta GT6 has the mirrors in the best position.
