Soon after buying my Mk 111 (last June) I fitted a standard type stainless steel exhaust system (Bell) obtained from the club. Trouble I have found since
is that all the chromework above the tailpipes tarnish (bumper etc); the rear light cluster on that side also discolours.
It all cleans up with polish and elbow grease (LMP) but is this normal or just part and parcel of having a GT6? I think the system is fitted correctly and
I don't think it could be moved any further back.
Am I stuck with this?

Mines got that too - looks like its been like that for years. Did it take long to polish up? Doesn't seem to budge with Autosol...

So far the chrome comes up well with just polish. The light cluster (lens) I soaked in soapy water. Stainless steel exhaust - stains everything
else though!

Dom,
If Autosol won't shift stain, then try "Astonish" oven & cookware cleaner. This is slightly abrasive, so not to be used very often.

Hey Dom
If you're going to Stafford then I think it would be a good social event to gather around your car with various cleaners we've nicked from the
kitchen to give your rear end (your car that is) a thorough going over. Marigolds and Vim at the ready!

Oooh missus!
While searching on the web yesterday for "miracle" chrome cleaners i came across "Blue Job" - used for removing the blueing tarnish on
motorbike exhausts...
Has anyone here had Blue-Job experience? If not, i might get a sample.
Here's the site anyway...

I use Autosol on my rear bumper where the SS straight through exhaust causes a brown film to appear. I think it is something that has to be tolerated.
I follow the cleaning process with wax polish to keep the rain off the chrome but it does not stop the brown coating returning.
