  Where abouts are you? I gather from the website of Jigsaw Racing that they have the wheel alignment technology at their workshop. I've used them for engine work and they're very experienced and have a good know-how. Best get in contact with Mark Field! They're near Kettering. All the best!

    I went to my local Pro-align equipped garage armed with a handful of spacers & a socket set. They set the car up on the machine & I did the adjustment, you can watch the figures change on the screen as you add or remove spacers. Find your nearest centre here http://www.alignmycar.co.uk/ its supposed to be the most accurate system. Cost about &163;35.

      You might also want to take a copy of the Triumph workshop manual with you.
      
      Alignment shops seldom have all the figures available for our relatively ancient cars.

• Query regarding shims

  Hi everyone - thanks for the responses thus far.
  I live in West Cumbria.
  Its nice to see a younger element involved in owning classic cars!
  I've found a workshop to make the adjustments, but until I have completed replacing joints, trunnions & bushes etc, can anyone tell me how many shims a standard 1973 Mk 111 GT6 would normally have in place behind the tie rods & wishbones?

    Thats the point, there is no std amount! If it is just having an overhaul replace shims like with like, and have a good few spare for the proper alignment later. Alternatively have a go at doing a home setup which should be a good start point.

    nice and low tech but should give pretty accurate results.
    Remember it takes a while for new stuff to settle, and only full tighten shock/trunnion bottom bolts once the car is on the ground.

      That will do me for now, until I have completed the replacement bush/joint work.
