What reason did they give for "no way"?
According to the listing in the DT catalogue states "...will fit directly onto a Momo hub kit." and you can get Momo hub adaptors for Triumph steering columns (I believe the GT6 MkII has the same splines as the 'early' Spitfires - and I have a Momo wheel on my Mk IV - from Moss).
The Momo boss IS a little...thick and by the time you have this on top I could see the column switches being a little far away for convenience.

Does anyone know if yoi can get a MOMO boss for the big saloons / Stag etc??

I believe maybe that it will fit to the hub kit but not the shaft?
which one did you find in the
catalogue. Maybe I missed it.

Dont be fooled about no wheel , no drive
It used to be in days gone by that people used to un bolt wheels as a security measure only for a thief to carry a pair of stillsons with them to clamp on the column and steer with it !!

yes it can be done, cos i already dun it
although I used the SPA system, a thick-splined mild steel replacement end for the steering column
you need to saw the right lenght off the standard steering column, chamfer muchly the two ends and then fill the vee fully with weld
howls of protest do I hear? weld embrittlement?? parrallels with infamous racing car crashes???
well the SPA splined fitting has a hole down it's lenght, so I drilled and tapped (5/16unf i seem to remember) a corresponding hole down the centre of the now-shortened steering column and put one of Triumph's best 5/16 unf bolts down it to keep it together, torqued it up then did the weld, then locked the bolt head with a dab of weld also
belt and braces, never knowingly underengineered
all the parts, including a tiny steering wheel came from the dreaded deemon twonks for convenience the wheel, the wheel adaptor and the column adaptor
and no it's not yet broken
