How do I know when it is time to replacethe swing spring on my Gt6 Mk3? I am busy restoring her, and although the spring in a bit brown in colour, it seems
strong like mother Russia.
Also, best bushes to use and from where?
Will a Mk3 o/d gearbox conflict with a Mk1 engine?
If so, what modifications would I need to do?
So many questions, so little space.
Cheers,
Kean.

Kean, why u want to use a mk1 engine, the later one is so much better
re the swing spring, cut some replacement buttons from 10mm rubber sheet if you can find it, you'll find that thet freshens your spring
bushes are all from the same source these days so where ever they are the cheapest

Hi Jonathan,
It is all a matter of cost unfortuneately. At least till I can afford a 2.5. It is a fully recon unit and is as new, so that is why.
Hoever, I do have a Mk 3 chassis and gearbox also a Spitfire Mk 4 body and plenty of ancillary parts.
I still need a bonnet, so funding is tight.
Cheers,
Kean.

Your spring spring sounds OK, thought you should check the bush arrangement between it and the diff.
The OE bushes supplied by most suppliers are the same spec. Go for the best price.
The other option is to fit the none OE Polybushes which give a stiffer and firmer suspension. Again these are available from most Triumph parts
suppliers.
A Mk3 GT6 Gearbox is basicially the same as the Mk1 and will fit without any problems.
