Neil,
You're quite right - mine was originally fitted in front of the rear axle. When I converted to Rotaflex, I fitted it behind, to clear
the radius arms. The details don't matter as the ARB you have now is a different pattern.
However, a couple of things worry me about the setup in the picture. There appears to be a bracket welded onto the wishbone, about
halfway along, for the ARB vertical link. This bracket looks far too flimsy, as an ARB should be linked as stiffly as possible tot the
axle. And the link looks to be right next to the Rotaflex coupling - will it clear?
The picture may be of a mockup in the design stage. but the spacer/bracket on the boot floor looks to be of wood!
I think the reason why this is needed is that the ARB supplied by TT/Moss is a generic one from the USA that 'fits' the late US model
Spitfire. That has Herald/Vitesse style chassis extensions where a UK Spitfire/GT6 has towing eyes. Instead of the spacer, a space
frame welded on here will position your ARB better and lighter than the large spacers. Anyway, the boot floor is far too flexible to be
a mounting for an ARB.
Lastly, the vertical link has FAR too thick rubber bushes on it! The ARB will wave about in the wind! Find thin polyurethane bushes, or
consider using spherical bearings("Rose" joints) here. I used a Rose joint, via a small bracket on the lower shock absorber mount stud
with my original reversed ARB. The clearance from the wheel rim was very small indeed, but it cleared!
