Hi all,
In the Spitfire forum there has recently been mention about the rubber pad that fits under the rear spring cover. Is the reason that it cannot be replaced
in situ because the bolt through the cylindrical spacer between the leaves cannot be withdrawn? I am interested because I presume my non roto GT6 MKIII
should have one and I think it's missing.

Peter,
Yes that's right, the spring box needs to be clamped over the spring in a vice to get the bolt through. The rubber pad is unlikely to be missing, it is
very likely to be squashed to about a micron thick however. I have never noticed any noise arising from this pad or lack of it but often the spring
leaves clank against eachother when the rubber buttons wear away. Cure, new spring, pad and dampers preferably.
