Hi,
can anyone clear up any conflicting ideas that I have, what exactly is the rear brake hose ferrule ?
My GT6 MK 111 has just failed it's MOT on nearside and offside excessively corroded rear brake hose ferrules.
The MOT tester has now gone on holiday so I cannot ask him the question and was hoping to carry out the work asap, unfortunatley I was not there at the
time of the test so did not see the failure.
Any help would be much appritiated.
Many thanks
Chris

I know that a ferrule on a fishing rod is the female connector on the bottom section of the rod, into which goes the top section. So, from that, I'd
say that what failed is the metal end piece on the flexi pipe. I can only suggest that the end piece is so corroded that the MOT man thinks that there
is a danger of the pipe and the end piece parting company.
To confirm it, have a look at the offending pipe, he should have marked it up with yellow chalk

I think Ian's right, it's the metal end of the brake hose where the flexible pipe enters the connector and any corrosion here is likely to weaken
the joint. Don't take chances with brakes, it's not a nice feeling to go for the Jesus pedal and it sinks to the floor! I'd change the hoses asap
even if the tester reconsiders or you appeal his decision.

Ian, Colin thanks for that, you both reinforced what I thought, it was the term ferrule that was throwing me.
