Help- I am trying to replace the diff rear casing bushes Pt No. 117578 on my Spit 1500 and I am having problems getting the old bushes out.
I have tried to free them using WD40, heat from a blow lamp, big hammer and an extractor device using a bolt , washer, socket etc. - resulting in no
movement at all.
Has anyone suceeded in changing these themselves or do I need to seek professional help from someone with a hydraulic press etc.
Regards

After much effort, I did manage to remove these from a spitfire diff once. I ended up drilling holes through the rubber then chiselling out the remains
with a blunt screwdriver.
A messy job and it still took ages. I replaced them with polybushes and discovered that after the rubber has been removed, there is an outer metal band
that has to be removed too to get the polybushes to fit.

The outer metal band is part of the original bush; to remove mine I put the blade of a small junior hacksaw down the centre of the bolt hole
through the bush then reattach the hacksaw handle at either end - then just saw away!! Don't cut the casing!! Once you cut right through the
bush including the outer metal the gap made by the saw enables the metal to contract slightly thus enabling it to slide out of the casing with
a bit of effort. New ones for some reason slide straight in with very little resistance.
