  The main leaf of the swing spring is fixed directly to the differential. However its PRIMARY function is to locate the vertical links and very little to do with the actual swing spring system imagine your car as a three wheeler ( single wheel at the back for the terminaly stupid ) the car is basicly leveled by the front suspension units and anti roll bar.
  This actualy a very simple and effective system with a very high level of grip as weight is constantly transfered to the light wheel, Unlike the rotoflex system.
  When correctly set up and most importantly on the right tyres, works very well indeed.

  Thanks for the insight I thought a better description than 'swing spring' (suggesting sliding right and left) to 'rocking spring' implying a rocking motion. Correct me if this is not the correct visualisation of what goes on under cornering.
  
  - in answer to your questions:
  The car WAS roto, conv to swing spring.
  Suspension supports were cut away.
  Has 5 1/2 j wheels.
  Have not measured shafts yet - but what determines the correct length shaft to have?
