Gearbox oil drain plug

Hi All,
Can anyone give me any tips for removing the drain plug from my Gt6 gearbox (the sqare headed plug). I have had a spanner on it this afternoon but it wont budge - probably the first time anyone has tried to undo it in it's 36 years exsistance! Can any square socket or any similar tool be purchased as I think a bit more leverage is in order due to it's limited access location!!

ed, is there a combination of parts fropm your socket set which will allow you to get a half inch suqare drive socket onto it, square drive upppermost, if you see what i mean

and also make sure you are turning it thye right way, it is threaded in the conventional direction but while you are upside down it is easy to get directions confused
