I think nobody has answered because everyone's stumped when you said the 3.27 rear casing was not suitable for the 3.63 diff. Why not? and if not, how do you find out what is suitable?
Mind you I know how you feel about not getting replies I have come to the conclusion that nobody on here has indicators or gearbox tunnels!

It's the carrier that's definately different, and thus the casings may also be different.

363 diff = spit 1500 diff
same diff crown wheel carrier as the 387
same diff case as the 327 and the 387 and same 1/4 shafts
363 diffs cheapest of the lot (?? or are vit 387 diffs cheaper)
change the speedo to noe marked 1000 in tiny numbers on teh face

what car did a 3.87 diff come in??
I can only find 3.89's in my books.
Is it like a 3.89, but with a tooth missing, because I've got one of those... knock, knock, knock..........
So that looks like I need to dig out the shagged 3.89 I have (see above) and get the dolomite 'guts' transferred into it.
That way Don can keep his 3.27 whole.
