Hi All
Right Engine out of car and I want to paint it up to make it look good!
At the moment a good portion of the original Triumph black paint is still to be found on the engine block, head, sump etc but in places there are resonable
sized patches of surface rust coming through which I have wire brushed off leaving a rusty smeare colour.
I therefore want to paint the engine block up in a nice black colour, preferably with the same appearance as the orginal triumph black.
Can anyone suggest a good match for the original triumph black i.e same satin black appearance or if not a good quality black engine enamel which isnt to
glossy?? + does anyone have any hints or tips for doing this?

Adam,
I use Granville Cylinder Black, Satin Finish. It is available from most Motor Factors. A 100ml tin is more than ample for a six cylinder as you can
see. No primer is necessary and the results are self evident.

I have to say if your every chasing an oil leak, black isn't the best colour, having said that Im not suggesting yellow is the best option

.
I used to have a blue block, now its black and although looking good, it has its down sides.

Thanks Guys!!
Well im sorry to say Ive gone for the dull black option! So thank you for your suggestion Lindsay, the Granville Engine black in a satin
finish looks just the ticket so I've just ordered a pot online, and it only costs &163;2.99 plus delivery.
Ill let you know how I get on!!!
cheers

well yelows different, but theat manafold looks nice, seames to look tighter/neater the all the ones iv seen, all the problems other people say
about them seem to not be a problem in the pic. like not being able to keep origional starter. even the steering rod seame to have plenty of
room, misses chassy nice it looks tight agaist the block. who makes it? will it fit mk1 vit?

Yes Danial, that Phoenix manifold was supplied bythe specialist supplier ebay....
but I'm pretty sure it's a phoenix, there's loads of room between the starter and the manifold from the picture.....about 20 feet.
It's got a spit starter that I had to chop the nobbly end bit off for clearance, but hey, I guess it needs a gt6 starter or high torque
starter, it works.
I think it was finely fettled by the previous owner, (met him at LM06 again - small world...)

its the red one again the paints so thick you cant see the jigsaw 6 3 1 and high torque starter or the gap next to the steering
column, there was even room to add a heat shield to protect the end of the starter, peter/mick

I think you will find that in the 60's the four and 2 litre 6 cylinder engines used the same starter motor..........................
I've certainly swapped Herald and 2000 saloon motors. A pretty bog standard Lucas motor of the time, but if sourcing one from another
maker, the gear on the bendix might be a different size, or rotate the other way.

weve lost the plot on enamels and only had black, yellow & red ,,,, but the geared/ hi torque nippon denso starter flings the
thing over at a heck of a rate compared to the bendix or pre engaged units,,, even with a flat battery . peter

yes thats definatly corect as the starter on the 2L I put in lasted less then a week, someone told me herald one would fit to my
delight it did, as the herald one had/has a realy powerfull kick to it event the MOT man comented on it, think it must have been
reconditiond at one point.
