5 out 6 spark plugs are fine but one is carbon coated! There is no sign of oil deposits on the plug and the engine is running fine!
Any ideas of where to start looking to bring the cylinder up to speed with the others!
Thanks, Pete

Bit difficult to say (although some of the gurus on the site will probably know), without knowing: what carb set-up you have, standard 1973 emmision
strombergs? What is the condition of the carbs? Which air filters are fitted? And which plug is sooting up? Do you have a brake servo fitted, if so
where's the take off? It sounds like you are a bit rich on one cylinder and it is isn't possible to adjust individual cylinders. The standard set up
has one carb per group of three cylinders and the GT6 inlet manifold is not that well balanced so it is always going to be a compromise. Check out
these things. Oh, and one last thing, if you are using Champion plugs, chuck them in the bin and get some NGKs.
To be honest it's never a good idea to fiddle with it if it's running fine ("if it ain't broke , don't fix it"). First off I would give it all a good
check over and install some NGKs and try like that for a while.

Hi Peter,
I have had a similar sounding problem but on several of the plugs. Finally traced it down to poor ignition firing, which was solved by replacing
the points and the main HT lead from the Coil to the distributor. As one lead has been changed I am now replacing them all.
As you only have a problem with one Spark Plug it's possible that the HT lead to the spark plug isn't transferring enough power to give a big
enough spark.

Many thanks George, I do have Champions on the car and I will now try NGKs. As you said, if ain't broke, don't fix it ! So I will start with
the eay stuff first ...will post a note to say how I'm getting on.
David, also many thanks I will take acloser look at the ignition.
