In my 1500 Spit is a GT6 MkIII Peter Buckle [engine No PBD 001] motor [precursor to TriumphTune]. It has a 6-3-1 exhaust, CD175 carbs, the rocker pedestals
are shimmed, the rocker arms ground a bit and a mystery cam. Now, the head had to be changed 'cos the original was skimmed to death and weaped water [and
oil i think] so had a bog standard head of unknown provenance stuck in. I may have answered my own question but... Well, it sets off like a monster, i have
trouble not screeching down the road from any standing start but then it seems to lack mid range punch, 2-3k. I haven't had it above 3.5k revs yet cos
bottom end was rebuilt so don't know if she'll unleash after that. Should I be thinking about an old head and have it skimmed to within an inch of its life
- though not as much as the original or would it be the cam? I want that mid range kick for normal road driving and not neccessarily the high end speed
thingy, if thats what a lumpy cam would be giving me. What am I looking at here?

Adrian, I would suggest doing everything posible to preserve the nature of your engine, the pedestal shims may not be needed on a standard thickness
head, but it would be appropriate to have a worked on head for your engine rather thaan any old one. I would suggest a CR of around 10:1 and use one of
the "super unleaded" fuels
as far as your hole in the delivery, it could be due to a whole host of things, but probably not the cam timing or the cylinder head
ie distrubutor mechanism ?vacuum mechanism or the centrifugal advance, or even the carb settings
run it in a little more then start developing the engine (ie verifying evry system works correctly
time consuming but no quick fixes, you need to get to know the engine
