  It's been done, but not by me!
  
  Look for postings by Snowygrouch on the Totally Triumph Net - he's done it, and there have been other references there. Also there is a website whose URL I have lost (search for V8 or "How to stuff a V8 into a Little British Car") specifically for those who are so sad (deleted) seeking further power and excitement as to want to make a Spitfire grossly overpowered and underhandling. Just my point of view!
  
  Good luck - I love an engineering challenge too, but this is one too far.

    http://www.britishv8.org is the site John's referring to! Lot of American cars on it due to their abundance of huge engines, but I think there are some Rover V8 Spitfires in the mix too...

    A little bit of agreement here ( NOT TOO MUCH ).
    
    Your statements re Spitfires, Total agreement, even a 2500 in a Spit can mean trouble. I found mine untrustworthy ( Far to much chassis flex).
    Or is this just my driving ?
    
    However Kevins question related to a Gt6 which is a different proposition entirely. A Gt6 can be sorted to handle a lot of power compentently.
