I should be there, it's only 4 miles away - I may even have a Triumph to get me there having just sold our Jasmine 13/60, we're looking for another.
Well I'm looking for a Vitesse, Claudia is looking for a Spitfire so I've been viewing GT6 convertibles!

Went today for the first time (about one and a half hour drive) felt a little disappointed, was this the norm for the picnic or should I try again next year.

I wanted to go but I started a job I just couldn't finish in time and so the car was in a few pieces for most of the day
I think I got there in the end and at least she strts when cold
now. I also seem to have picked up a dose of gut rot so couldn't stray too far from the facilities, still feeling dodgy now!
Anyway, the weather was good, what was disappointing Huw? Graham Shaklady, local TSSC member called round to my place after the event and said it was OK, turnout was not massive but reasonable. Sound slike the autojumble/trade presence was a bit poor though.-

Hi Jason sorry to hear your sunday was a bit fraught...I don't really know what I was expecting I suppose I was comparing it to the SEM. The autojumble was non-existent there was about 3 cars and 1 trader !! It did not seem to get started if that makes sense .???...The weather wasn't that bad and the kids loved Beale park so it wasn't a wasted day by all means..(and due to some very scenic diversions around Hook I now know where the Crooked Billet is..)

Sounds like TW Picnic is declining a bit then as
there was quite a lot of jumble last year, never many traders, Bill was there last year. I know what you mean about "getting
started" it had a tendancy to attract the deck chair fraternity - you know the guys who arrive, park their car and sit next to
it in their deck chairs all day. Previous tears there's been an "area" and they've had cars in, done the commentary and talked
to the owners on the PA etc - it's been quite entertaining.

Hi Jason,
From a traders point of view, the picnic is a bit of a mess. Considering it's "organised" by a promotions company, there is a real case of left and right hands not communicating. Every year the adverts state clearly that traders must pre-book, yet when we telephone for details we are told that we should just turn up on the day. Business receipts for our payments to the organisers are non-existant, despite promises that they will be sent on by post we have yet to receive any for the 2 years we have traded. It's not a large amount of money we're talking about, but neither are our takings at an event like this.
Last year the picnic clashed with both the Duxford Triumph Day and Beaulieu Autojumble, we went with the picnic from sheer convenience. This year it clashed with Beaulieu, there really was no contest second time around.
Roll on Duxford next week.....

Who's going? The event's on tomorrow at Wellington Country Park just South of Reading http://www.chpltd.com/triumph_world/picnic10.html the weather forecast looks OK, rain today but dry all day tomorrow. A few of the guys from Hants & Berks are going. As it's so close I think we'll take both cars. Having just re-read this thread I see that I was talking about the choice between cars we could own, I ended up buying both a Vitesse AND a GT6 convertible!
Anyway, if you're going come and say hello.-
