Well it was a great day out. I did 3 runs of the strip with my knees knocking and clammy hands gripping the wheel with white knuckles! I then decided to
give the poor thing a rest and entered my GT6 “Little Green Monster”, in the “Pride of Ownership” show
and was really surprised to win the prize for BEST MODIFIED SIXTIES CAR. WeÂ’ll have to see how she does at Stafford ( I am showing her in the
40 GT6’s on Saturday and “Modified Triumph” on Sunday). The organizers were impressed that mine was one the few cars
on show that actually “got caned” up the strip as well. I guess regular readers of these mags should look out for the show report
in the next issue. The best of all though was the number of spectators who came off the banking and wandered over to the car, just to tell me how wonderful
she sounded at 7000 rpm! So hopefully I have introduced a few more hundred people to the sweet sound of Triumph Six at full chat!
For those interested in statistics my best run was 16.60secs at 86mph, which apparently is respectable for a car that still needs setting up on the rolling
road and a driver who needs to learn the technique (or any technique for that matter). She should easily be in the 15s bracket, with 14Â’s
possible. I was launching very carefully keeping Mr Binnington’s sage advice in mind, but was quite impressed that my 0 – 60 time
was under 9 secs, so 7 secs bracket should be possible.
All in all, a good day out except when my daughter reminded me that the combined age myself and the car is 95yrs (Note to self - Must grow up)!!!!!

The look on the face of the young lad in his 205 GTI as I went past him about midway was priceless, especially as I was wearing an old flat cap at
the time for a laugh! Wehayyyy!!
