Just a quick note to say thanks for a great day at Duxford Last weekend.My first meet as a Triumph owner and spoke to many interesting enthusiasts and veiwed some terrific cars.I've enclosed a pic.If anyone else has some i'd like to see them>Cheers

Hi Brian

This was our first trip down to the south of england as a club run (TSSC MANCHESTER) http://www.tssc-manc.34sp.com ,we left manchester Saturday morning 4 cars in total 3 Spits 1500s and a Stag.
we arrived at headquaters to view the museam and buy some trinkets from the shop. our thanks to Trudy and Nigel for opening for us on this special occasion as they were closed due to holidays.
next port of call was the American servicemen cemetery at Coten,overnight stay in waterbeach and to Duxford on Sunday great time had by all.

Maybe we will return next year as we only got to see half the aircraft.

Vin get your spray gun out and that spray Spitfire in the first picture a proper yellow.

I can't believe the owner could park it in such an obvious position if it was mine I'd hide it.

Brown Acclaims look better!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a serious note can I as one of the organisers thank all those that came along, Manchester were not the only long distance travellers and it makes our efforts very rewarding when we see so many people enjoying themselves.

  Apparantly the yellow spitfire in the first picture is original, never been welded or sprayed, which means it's a perfect candidate for Pimp My Ride as you know what your starting with. Not sure what the colour yellow is, but I think Kevin cleaned it after cleaning his cack brown Acclain and a certain amount of colour transfer has occured........ (MR2 yellow is still the best!)

  At least "that" Spitfire is painted in a PROPER Triumph colour, unlike that one by the control tent that was masquerading as Mimosa. And here is another picture of it in front of a Supermarine Spitfire !!!!!!!

        MK4 1500 engine, yes I'll assume your right as I never looked closely at the engine, Les, Alex, I just assumed it was standard as the engine looked teeny weeny to me......

        amazing engines our triumphs 15 years laid up, but with some kind assistance running quite well. Carbs will need full service though

        thought you could do better than than barry, is it true your in negotiations with dulux to use your car as a swatch card. because of the shades you have on the spitfire did he use his white stick to mix the paint with. alex great to see your gt4 spitfire has passed its mot

        Lovely car yours, so what do think of mohair hood ?
        I find them so much better.

        Mohair hood's are nice, but the only disadvantage is if it gets damaged, cost a lot to replace. The vinyl ones do the job nicely too, but even they are a bit expensive.
        
        one thing though, what's the difference between Mohair and Double Duck?

        Double Duck is a canvas and tends to fade in the sunlight, needs to be recoloured with Maxol, whereas Mohair is a different 'finer' material and is nuch more resistant to fading.
        
        That is my experience having had both types.

        ok, but how do you tell what you've got? mine is sort of finely woven cloth over a rubbery tough backing, can you tell which one this is? (strange I don't know, I know?)

        Les, what did you use to get there? Your white van man disguise or the mean green steam machine. I have got your entry form for next years Beds Steam and Country Fair, we will try to avoid a clash with Duxford. I have described the Spit as an Aveling & Barford as it is the same colour green and produces as much steam probably runs as far on shovel full of coal and you feel as if you have been run over with a steam roller when it performs as usual.
        
        I know my car has many shades of yellow, apparently the light in Hertfordshire is the problem in Bucks it looks like Mimosa anywhere else you are not so sure. Strange but the Stag looks like Mimosa wherever it is.

        ha ha was gunna call it a huff and puff, already booked it into leighton buzzard steam fair but got rejected as i couldnt get it there under its own steam, have you got some spare coal.

        I thought that it was Bissell that made the Green Steam Machine, not Triumph
        Whoops, I've just found that it's the (little) Green Clean Machine that Bissell make - easy mistake I suppose.

        do not know as red spitfire goes off the clock, and when being followed have to keep the speed down !!!

        Alex.. if its that quick pull the stick back see if will do a couple loops, causes havoc with the radar guns
        just make sure the clouds are the right colour and are a load of hot air not steam,, unless Les is doing a barrel roll

        the joy of a race tuned stage 3, but still cannot quite take off need wider mirrors I think ....
        Peter could you post site details where you got your gear stick cover, got lost searching for it on the net....

        Duxford TSSC car show, people of the TSSC, is there a date for the main car show this year as it's not in the calendar of events?
        
        ps. I know there's a Spitfires with Spitfires by invitation on the 5th Aug, but it's the main event date I wish to know also as it's relatively local to me....... local shows for lo...... you get the pic'.
        
        pps. only reason I tacked this onto last years is there's a lovely picture of a yellow spitfire on it.......
