Thanks for a fantastic weekend. Just got in, absolutely shattered but with very good memories of good food, even better drink and the best company
around! Even the weather on Saturday afternoon couldn't spoil the event. It cleared in time for the BBQ's anyway!!

Cracking day today at Leatherhead, was keen on taking my gitfire when I looked into it about a week ago, weather reports were getting gloomier and gloomier, and the last couple of days I resigned myself to going on Sunday and not taking my gitfire as it has no roof. Sunday morning checked BBC Weather on the web, still said the south east was due for rain! checked it again and this time looked at the satellite movie they have, the rain was moving AWAY from Leatherhead to the east - took the gitfire, and am pleased to say that the chrome steering wheel stayed dry! (windscreen got a tiny drop of rain from an errant cloud)
Got loads of first hand answers to spit mk1 body questions some very nice mk1/2 spits (as my gitfire has a mk1 spit body), particularly how the unique soft top is supposed to go on - Michelottie was an inventive fellow.... and got a masterclass in how a swing spring works from Kevin Rochfort as we looked at one on the stands - which went a long way to now actually knowing in practical terms why it's crazy bonkers to put a swing spring on a rotoflex car.....alledgedly......-

Argh! ok.. thanks for taking it Kevin but.. uh.. I dont think i'll be using it. (for the benefit of others, I asked kevin to take it because I need one of me and the car for the blogs links on the club triumph homepage, but I think i'll just be a rebel and have one of the car only)
Nice drive back Vin / Kevin, your car SHIFTS Vin! seems to have lots of top end. I am so new to all this lark that I have very little to compare mine with performance wise. Believe it or not that's the first time i've driven along in convoy with triumphs I think. I was getting MAD wheel wobble at about 90 (i was watching the GPS as that's my speedo, we topped about about 92 just past that viaduct (aquaduct?) on the M25. When I have the new steels painted up and balance I hope it'll go away. IF not then i'll start the disks, prop, halshafts, etc etc investigation to see where the vibrations coming from. Its possible of course that i just shouldnt go 90+

Although I only got stay for a short while - I enjoyed my few hours at SEM
Good to meet a few of you all in the flesh (finally) and swap over those bits and pieces we've been promising each other for what seems like years!

This was my first time at a Triumph show (in fact my first time at any classic car show...) and thought it was brilliant. I went along in my Spitfire
(the Inca 1500 right at the back) with a friend in his Spitfire (the red 1500 next to mine) and had a fantastic afternoon. It was great to see so many
Triumphs together in one place. A brilliant day... cant wait to go to another show in the summer!
