Hi, I am in the process of renewing the o/s rear wheel cylinder on my 1974 Toledo and have come across a problem, the inlet connection will not go back in,
it seems to make no difference no matter what I do. The outlet connection goes in fine, but I just cannot start the inlet one. Every time I think I have
got it started, it slips out again. Any ideas please. Thanks Steve.

Hi Steve,
I know the problem, the best way to overcome it is to match the thread of the pipe and the cylinder together. Just take the cylinder off the backplate
and then screw the pipe into the cylinder. It is difficult to line the pipe up with the cylinder on the backplate and if the threads are tight then it
just will not fit. Once you have cleared the threads it should be ok to refit on the cylinder to the backplate and screw the pipe in.
Use a small amount of copper ease on the threads, but be careful to stop the copper ease from getting into the cylinder and clear any bits that may
have come off the threads.
If the pipe and cylinder will not fit together then you may have the wrong type.

I find it helps to get the pipe in position, bottoming in the hole like it should, before trying to screw in the union. It's easy to see the angle
of the pipe and see if it is right. Easier than trying to screw the union in if the pipe isn't exactly where it should be.
Good luck
