Originality Issues

Posted By : Martin Frosh, 14-Jul-2006, 09:20pm

Hi - there's a (friendly at this stage) debate in some circles about whether a club should categorise a member's car differently if it is not original. For example, a Stag with a Rover engine, a Herald saloon "converted" into a convertible, a Spitfire with a non-original engine type and so on.........................
It is said that if such altered cars are normally accepted into a Club without qualification, it tends to confer originality, misleading for the future; on the other hand, a Stag is a Stag, a Herald a Herald --- and so on.
And - the acceptance of such cars un remarked tends to diminish the value of true originals.
These example given because TSSC Members will be familiar with such alterations -- but the current discussion covers most Marque Clubs.. All comments most welcome --Thanks --Martin
