General Club Chat messages

In light of posts over recent months can I just add some comments of my own...

I am part of a thriving area with loads of enthusiasm and interest in our vehicles. We help out with problems that any of our members have, we meet regularly (not only on official meeting dates), WE ENJOY BEING MEMBERS OF THIS CLUB!.

Nigel and myself have attended three camping events so far this year with about another 7-8 planned. We find that as a family there is always something for all of us at these events. The kids have met friends from all over the UK and they keep in touch with each other in between meets. THEY ENJOY BEING PART OF THIS CLUB!

Stafford is rapidly approaching and we for one look forward to this event every year. For all those who want to speak to somebody from the Club, why not try attending this year, most of the key figures are there and available to chat.

I appreciate that there are people who will not agree with my views but that is life and I for one, ENJOY BEING A MEMBER THIS CLUB!!!!

    I have been a member of the TSSC continually since March 1981, never missed a year.
    
    In the UK 1981-2002, as active as I could be, met and made some fantastic friends.
    Now I am over here in the USA, living in a bit of a rural backwater.
    
    You could say, I've 'done a Kipping', but the point is, I miss my club, I miss the local area social evenings down at the pub, I miss the opportunity to see other Triumphs a couple of times a month, I miss the camping, I miss the big events, I miss Stafford and I miss the European Club events, all of it. (I bet the big trip out to Le Mans was fantastic!)
    
    I happen to think that my world is lacking something vital without the TSSC, so I want to see it thrive, and with members like Claire, so much the better. One day I may return to the UK and I want the TSSC to be there when I do.

    Best Regards to those members who are more interested in the cars and the enthusiasm of owning them than in the politics and criticism.

      I think most of us are much more interested in the cars and want the club to thrive. However, to do that we need to know that the club is in safe hands, and at the moment there seems to be some doubt about that. Information about what is going on at the top should be available to all rank & file members, not subject to a gagging clause.
      Because people do care about the club, we are now having this "debate". If people are worried about the TSSC doing it's laundry in public, perhaps the messageboard should only be available to logged on members...

        Sorry guys, you have lost the point on this thread. This is for those who want to express what they LIKE about the club. There are other threads for criticism. Why jump in on this one that is for positive aspects? Surely that also smacks of conspiracy theories in that maybe there is a faction that wants the club to appear in a bad light.
        
        To reiterate this is for people to express their positive feelings about the club - NOT NEGATIVE.

        Fair play to Claire, it's easy to knock the Club and it can appear to be destructive but this is a thread about the positives. I've been a member for over 22 years, apart from my employer that's the longest voluntary relationship I've had in my life so even though I'm not 100% happy with the Club it still retains my interest.
        I could go on and list what I like but I would have to quantify everything with a "but" and that wouldn't be in the spirit of this thread, suffice to say that the shows the Club puts on are very professionally organised and represent a sound foundation.
        The Messageboard is an excellent place to discuss everything from the best place to get your parts to the merits of speed cameras through to the best way to hide your car expenses from you wife/girlfriend/bank manager!
        I think the presence of the Club shop is a comfort to new members and the customer service provided by Nigel is outstanding.
        The dedication and enthusiasm of members never ceases to amaze me.
        I enjoy the Courier every month, even the stuff that's of little relevance to the cars I own - having "hydrid" Triumphs spreads my interest amongst the models anyway
        I thin the way the Club provides a focus for the majority of owners is something to be proud of.
        There's lots good about the Club, lots to build on, the foundations are strong.

        I've been an active member of this club for over 20 years, which is most of my adult life.
        
        I do still get enthusiastic about being able to drive my GT6 even after 18 years of ownership, but apart from the interest in the cars, the real great thing about this club are the members and characters I've met through the years.
        
        I've met some really excellent friends through this club, some have left Triumphs behind but still continue to be close friends.
        
        I even first met my wife at the Stafford International and my sister Lizzie also met her husband through the club.
        
        I've experienced some fantastic places around Europe touring with my former local TSSC area.
        
        I've experienced some great club events and great parties.
        
        I've made a fool of myself at times by getting very drunk, wearing silly clothes and playing some very silly games at club events.
        
        Now I have Kids I get enjoyment out of seeing them enjoy club events and making friends with other TSSC juniors.
        
        I found putting stuff back into the club when I was an AO for 10 years, in organising some events, writing for the Courier etc extremely rewarding.
        
        I find contributing to this forum keeps my Triumph spirit kindered between events and meetings.
        
        It's certainly been a rewarding experience and a part of my life that I wouldn't want to change.
        
        Roll on Stafford, which will be the 7th annual "snogging" anniversary for me and the missus!

        Hello All, I saw this POSITIVE thread and felt i need to contribute..
        
        As a member new to owning triumphs, I find the club invaluable. In fact I joined even before I bought my car and the local group helped me find my current car.
        
        I now go to the area meets and contribute to the message board and again have found this an excellent source of advice, and way to talk to like minded people&8230;.members help even if you ask really stupid questions, that are obvious to everyone else and seem to understand that they were once a bit like me un-initiated in the ways of the triumph
        
        I love being a member of the club &8211; long may it continue

        As a non UK member the club has been verry helpfull to me. Also quite friendly. Compaired to some I am a new Triumph owner (now have 3). I joined to help find a nice Herald Estate and did so last year at Stafford. Membership has led me to many hard to find parts and advice on the car I am restoring, and to the best vendors overtheir. I have met some great people who are now good friends. Club membership has led to a return visit in October to be with some that I met a Stafford. I re-uped for anouther year and plan to stay a member. Any club is what the members make it. Like my local club here its the best way to meet and gather with those who make great mates. Bill
