Idea for anti-theft device

Posted By : Dan Owen, 21-May-2006, 12:44pm

OK people, tell me what you think of this one ie is it good or is it rubbish! I have thought about hidden kill switches but they can only be so well hidden as you can imagine. Then I had this idea- What about a switch activated by the weight of someone sat in the driving seat to complete the ignition circuit? That wouldn't work below a certain weight. Not right for everyone I know but at around 18 or 19 stone I reckon I must be a sight heavier than most of the spotty kids that like nicking cars, if I could come up with something that would need this sort of weight in the seat before the car would start I reckon that would fox them.

It's not like anyone else ever drives it. A long time ago the mechanism that adjusts the seat fore and aft went for a burton. As I need it right back anyway I just hammered in a wooden wedge..! to stop it sliding about. It's still there as I can't be bothered to fix it properly...
