All,
The June issue of "Practical Classics" magazine leads its News section with an item entitled "US troops ordered to flatten Saddam's collection of
classics."
The text relates that although looters took some cars. the rest were destroyed by running tanks over them. The justification was that they might be used as
roadblocks or as car bombs (as if there weren't enough other cars in Iraq). No Triumph destructions were reported, but a V8 Woody, a '70s Cadillac
Fleetwood, a '55 Chevrolet Bel Air and a '30s Packard, as well as Mercs and Jags are now tank fodder.
In verification, a Pvt.Brad Young and a Pfc.Raul Carbajal were quoted to have taken part, under as much protest as military protocol allows, and the
article included a photo of a US soldier with a crushed car. Can any British squaddies confirm the story?
I know that this is trivial when so much tragedy has unequally hit both sides, but in the Clash of Civilisations, is this civilisation?

I don't believe that UK armed forces have been in the Baghdad region at the time that this would have been reported, the only UK troops likely to be in
that area would have been SAS/SBS and as such you won't get them talking about it!
As for the liklehood of the story being true I suspect that this is the case and as it's the June issue not the April one then it probably is true.
Cheers,
Yan
