I was sent this one recently taken from the 1960s series 'Man in a Suitcase' - I never knew they had so much taste back then.... apparrently the main
character used to drive a Hillman Imp but whenever this is not available they give him a selection of Triumphs, including a blue Spitfire, EDU 40 C. The
Herald VRM is CMT 444 A, a small sidelight model.

Here's his other transport - another nice one! Probably they believed that the viewers wouldn't know the difference....

That's a nice Coventry registration, looks familar, stands a chance of being a factory car?

I've sent this thread to the Spitfire owners, possibly they'll recognise the car.

I imagine that "They" were the publicity (?) depratment (no misprint) at BMC/BL. There are many stories of their lack of imagination and general
surlyness over a long period.
The Italian Job had to buy their Minis at market price.
Joanna Lumley was on Top Gear in November 2004, in the "Star in a reasonably priced Car" spot. Talking about the New Avengers, she said that often BL
would send different coloured cars the next day for the same scene. La Clarkson tried to affect a Brummagen accent, but I think his drool got in the
way.

As most of you kow a Herald was a main stay on Last of the Summer Wine. Now that Eddie has passed I assume we will no longer see the car. If only a
Herald coud do some of the stunts. That show by the way is what got me into Heralds as when I saw it I had to have one. (now I have 3)There was 2
or 3 Eastenders that had a Herald and they even called it a collector car. Eastenders is about 2years behind over here. Bill

2 different 'Eastenders' also had spitfires, can anyone remember which ones??
I know as this was a question in my local TSSC area annual quiz last year!

One of the Spitfires was driven by the "Wicksie" character (played by Nick Berry). He arrived in the square driving a Mark IV. can't
remember the colour for sure but I think it was Yellow.
I'll get my anorak now shall I?
