Cobra Ferrari Wars BBC4 Last Night

Did anybody manage to see BBC4 8.00pm onwards....A good nights telly for a 'Petrol Head' especially the programme about Carroll Shellby entering his Cobra's in the 1964/65 Le Manns..........Loads of good footage of the Racing Spitfires Shame i hav'nt figured out how to record from digital yet

  It's good, isn't it?
  In the LeMans sequence, the Spit isn't just in the background either, there is one shot of it right through a curve. The cameraman was clearly locked onto it.
  I wondered why, until I realised that the LeMans Spit has a similar-ish shape to the Cobra 'coop', Number 5, and that the only finisher in '64, ADU 2B, had Number 50. The cameraman was just looking for that figure 5, or else the film editor didn't realize that the film clip he was splicing in was of a completely different car.

  At the beginning of the film there is a very short clip of a scene at the AC factory, of chassis being built. Did you notice the transverse rear spring and swing axle? It didn't, but I wonder how long that survived once Shelby got his hands on the car.

    This sounds good! is it going to be repeated any time soon?
    Although probably not the right place to say this, but the shelby cobra is my all time favourite car (hangs head in shame)
    
    And to record from digital, make sure you have a scart cable going from the digi box to your VCR (aswell as your TV), and set your VCR to record as normal (timer set, not Video+), but instead of putting the channel number in, i.e. CH1, CH2 etc. put in AV1 or AV2 depending, and make sure you leave the digi box on and on the correct channel.
    
    Either that or sell the digi box and get sky+

      Its on again early friday morning (1.10 am) on BBC4 will try to record it onto my DVD recorder. If it works (need to set the digital box up and connect it to the recorder etc etc) I will be able to do copies for anyone who wants one.
      Will let you know tomorrow if it has worked!

          I managed to record most of it, including the triumphially important last five minutes or so. Just to prove it, here's a screen shot of ADU 2B.
          
          (Just the VCR on hold and a digital camera - you can see my head reflected on the screen).

  That's because it was all footage from Standard Triumph's own publicity unit, with good old Raymond Baxter commentating. In the credits at the end of the programme Heritage get a mention for the video footage. You can get the video directly from Heritage, its titled something like Triumph at Le Mans in 1964? I have a copy at home.

    I stayed up to watch it, really good, the Spits didn't look out of place at all...good story as well!
    
    Before that was a prog (same channel, can't remember now) about the land speed record during the 60's...wow! There was one of my childhood heroes: Craig Breedlove breaking the world land speed record in a three-wheeler (weird but I look older than him now?).
