Hello All, I was wondering about the cover picture of July's issue, How was this done is it trick photography or was a car really dropped into the water,
(puzzled ), And what was the reason?, Am I the only one curious. Keith Wallwork.

Keith,
If this was April, I would suspect a windup!
The caption in Courier did not make it clear, but this is a 'fountain folly', installed in someone's country park. It even has an obscure title,
something about the "thoughts in the head of the bridegroom", hence the top-hatted driver.
Amazing that people have money to waste on accelerating the return of Spitfires to iron ore by keeping them nicely damp.

The car was purchased from the Spitfire Graveyard specifically for this piece of installation, I believe.
The people who sold it were a bit annoyed that such a good condition car was bought for the purpose! It was only temporary, too, so god knows what
happened to it after.
Apparently the next project was supposed to be something to do with a canal barge. I wonder if he decided to plant it in the middle of a runway?
