I needed some better ignition leads and I'd been recommended to try Magnecor leads so off I went to find some. Doing my usual price comparisons I couldn't find anyone supplying really cheaply then I remembered a conversation with fellow TSSC member Tim Bancroft - he said he'd bought his from the TSSC, I had dismissed this as silly, because the TSSC shop is always expensive, isn't it?

Well, I found something quite surprising - the shop was in fact the cheapest for these leads and had the lowest P&P charges too, not way cheaper but nevertheless the best price! So I called Nigel in the shop and had a chat - as ever he was very helpful and confirmed that the leads have a right angle cap, were in stock and would be with me tomorrow. So I paid my money and gave my business to the TSSC.

It's good to see the shop being competitive, I'll check other prices with them too when I'm shopping.

To be honest, I have always found the club shop to be competitive, particularly when you take the P&P into account, some of my purchases include a new good quality hood, alloy rack mounts, touch up paint, mountney replacement steering wheel to name but a few.

Anyway, even if theres only a couple of quid difference shouldn't we be supporting the club as much as possible, and as you say, Nigel is always helpful.

        I knew someone would find them cheaper However, not sure about your maths there. Including VAT and delivery (I already have the leads here so I'm impressed with that) the TSSC were &163;72.90, Rally Design are &163;67.12 - makes them &194;&163;5.78 cheaper.
        Magnecor do make plain black leads too.

        And if you could have waited until the Duxford show on the 17th to collect them, you could have advance ordered the leads from the Club shop to get a discount at the show and also avoided the P&P.

        Good idea although I don't think I'll get to Duxford this year - it comes at a busy time for me. Mind you, should you factor in the entrance price?

        You don't factor in the entrance price, because it all goes to the Duxford museum for the upkeep of the museum. We don't get a penny of it. We finance the event by selling raffle tickets, so factor in the extra discount you might get by winning one of the prizes

        I think you misunderstand Kevin - I'm just saying that if I go to a show just to collect some parts and save P&P then if I have to pay to get in I'm not actually saving much! I know I wouldn't just go there and collect a part and come home of course.
        It's like when someone goes to an autojumble or trade show and pays a tenner to get in then raves about how they found Waxoil for 50p cheaper than their local Halfords - if fact it's cost them &163;9.50 more to buy it that way!
        Anyhoo - Duxford = good show, Club prices being more competitive = even better show

        It wasn't a misunderstanding - it was a deliberate ploy to plug the show again and try and get people to buy our raffle tickets
