One needs to be very careful with the terminology.
The commission number, stamped on the aluminium plate, along with the trim and paint codes is usually known as the "chassis number", and it is the
number in the logbook.
The number on the chassis outrigger is the "number of the chassis", and not the "chassis number" - subtle point, but used incorrectly or out of
context, can lead to confusion.
Similarly, there is a number on the bodytub - below the commission number plate - and this is the bodytub number, and it isnt in the logbook
either.
