I have been trying to trace the original registration for YKR 244J - this number was allocated on 29 October 1975 as a replacement for SAP 14 which had
been transferred to it sometime after 1 August 1970 which was its first registration date
I have enquired at all the relevant Council archives but no-one has any records prior to 29 October 1975
I know from the BMIHT Certificate that it was built on 8 June 1970 and was despatched to Dunham and Haines in Luton on 23 June 1970 so it is highly likely
it was first registered in the Luton area on 1 August 1970 - Dunham and Haines site is now housing and I have to assume that all records have gone up in
smoke
Chassis number is HC56829CV
Engine number is HC57499HE
Body number is 52235HCC
Original colour Saffron Yellow (Still is same today) with Black trim and hood
Dick Plumridge has been a great help and although I have been able to track down the son of the owner while it was SAP 14 he has not been able to come up
with any information other than to confirm SAP 14 was transferred to it by his father when he bought it secondhand sometime prior to 1975 - at least that
proved that SAP 14 was not the original registration
If anyone out there owned or knows someone who owned a Saffron Mk2 Convertible in August 1970 and could give me any information such as a registration
number which I might be able to check on it would be very much appreciated - and if anyone has any papers from Dunham and Haines that also would add to the
history file
Many, Many thanks , Mick
